Indominus Rex
Its all well and good playing God, but those genetic engineers at Masrani Global no doubt struggle to overcome the tedious nature of concocting the SAME dinosaurs over and over again. We get it. So, with the advent of a new park, it seems those cunning masters of the prehistoric petri dish have cooked up a brand, new, never-before-seen species.
The result? Indominus Rex, a new breed whose new section on the Jurassic World website offered an in-depth and utterly terrifying description:
We set out to make Indominus the most fearsome dinosaur ever to be displayed at Jurassic World. The genetic engineers at our Hammond Creation Lab have more than deliveredAt first glance, Indominus most closely resembles a T. Rex. But its distinctive head ornamentation and ultra-tough bony osteoderms can be traced from Theropods known as Abeliosaurs.
Indominus horns have been placed above the eye orbit through genetic material hybridized from Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus, Rugops and Giganotosaurus. Fearsome indeed..Indominus roar is estimated to reach 140-160dbthe same as a 747 taking off and landing. And it can reach speeds of 30 MPH while confined to its enclosure. Come experience Indominus Rex for yourself beginning this summer. If you dare.
Superbowl spot
The Superbowl teaser landed on February 1st, 2015. A shorter cut than the first trailer it nevertheless amped up the excitement by focusing on the new dinosaur at the heart of the story: the Indominus Rex.
Also included was a glimpse at Simon Masrani, and Owen - the Raptor whisperer - stood in a paddock with a trio of the Velociraptors as part of a training exercise.
But thats not the best bit. An extension from the November trailer shows Owen and a maintenance worker being chased by the I-Rex, that culminates with a close-up of Pratts wrangler trapped beneath a car while the beast gnashes its teeth mere feet away.
Park cam
With two trailers already released and no indication of when another may land, the team behind the movies viral campaign struck gold. A day after the Superbowl trailer wowed folks with its onslaught of I-Rex footage, a new interactive experience appeared on the Jurassic World website.
The park cams were activated! Now fans were able to view a number of live webcam feeds from all over Isla Nublars phenomenal attraction.
Catch glimpses of scientists hard at work in the lab, drop in on visitors grabbing a bite at Winstons Steakhouse or perhaps youd prefer to peruse the T-Rex paddock for a hopeful look at the carnivorous creature.
With the release date only four months away, who knows when these feeds will start to reveal more secrets from the park...
Viral videos
Speaking of secrets, a series of behind-the-scenes viral videos detailing the daily experiences of park life hit the web in late January/early February. The juiciest clips introduce Vincent DOnofrio as the parks head of security Vic Hoskins, and explore the happenings inside the parks creative hotbed known as The Hammond Creation Lab.
The more, the merrier
A fearful, dominant beast impervious to any opponent, the reputation of the I-Rex was shaping up to be this films T-Rex. But what about the rest of the herd?
As seen in the Superbowl trailer, tourists will be facing attacks from both land and air. So, in true viral style seven new dinosaurs appeared on the Jurassic World website in late February.
Alongside the previously-revealed Ankylosaurus, Apatosaurus, Gallimimus, the water-dwelling Mosasaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Indominus Rex, the roster expanded to now include Suchomimus, Baryonyx, Dimorphodon, Pteranodon, Edmontosaurus, Metriacanthosaurus, and a load of Microceratus.
Some were familiar while others were new to the franchise. Either way, you probably wouldnt want to encounter any of them down a dark alley.
Jurassic World and beyond...
65 million years in the making and now only four months are left until the fourth instalment in the Jurassic Park saga arrives in cinemas. Conjuring up new dinosaurs and new characters, this modern-day sequel looks poised to take more jabs at contemporary society - while providing a ton of action-packed scares. The stage is set for Jurassic World to take the world by storm this June.
But, will we be in more adventures after this summer? The ideas and script that they came up with, and story, are pretty spectacular, executive producer Thomas Tull told IGN, so we may certainly spend more than one piece in there.
