Comic-Con 2014: Sam Raimi to produce The Last Of Us
Maisie Williams in talks to star
Maisie Williams could be taking the lead in the upcoming adaptation of The Last Of Us .
Game creator Neil Druckmann revealed at Comic-Con that the actress – best known for her role as Arya in Game Of Thrones - is in talks to play the role of Ellie.
Druckmann made the announcement alongside Sam Raimi, who is set to produce the big-screen version of the PS3 horror hit.
“I won’t be directing the movie but I’ll be all over it,” Raimi said. Druckmann too will have a large degree of creative control, not least writing the screenplay.
Released in 2013, the game is set in a zombie-ravaged US, which the young Ellie attempts to navigate with the aid of fellow survivalist Joel.
“It’s a great character story, a great love story,” said Raimi, who refuted suggestions that it was ‘too soon’ to bring the game to the big screen.
“If it was anything else I would say it is too soon, but I have faith in this [adaptation] being great.”
