Colossus will be recast for Foxs Deadpool movie

With less than year until the standalone Deadpool movie hits cinemas, the race is on to lock in a solid cast of characters to accompany Wade Wilson on his first solo adventure.

Just last week, Haywire star Gina Carano boarded the movie in the role of Angel Dust, a member of an underground mutant group called The Morlocks. In addition, the cited report made mention of popular X-Men character, Colossus, and his expected appearance in the movie.

Since then many believed that Daniel Cudmore, who previously portrayed the character, would tackle the part once more. That prospect has been firmly shot down as the actor himself took to Twitter to confirm that he would not be returning:

“Thanks everyone for all the support for me 2 reprise the role of #Colossus in #Deadpool but unfortunately it won't be happening for me,” he Tweeted. “I've had a blast playing such an awesome character over the years! #Deadpool will be kick-ass with #TimMiller and @VancityReynolds #BestFans”

Cudmore’s breakout turn as Colossus came in X2: X-Men United. He went on to reprise the role in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Directed by Tim Miller, with a script from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Deadpool will arrive on February 12th, 2016.
