While Fox wants Tom Hardy for X-Men: Apocalypse
The casting process for Doctor Strange continues to limp ever onwards, with Colin Farrell the latest name to be linked to Marvel’s favourite sorcerer.
According to The Wrap , Farrell is now one of the top names in contention for the role, with Keanu Reeves and Benedict Cumberbatch also thought to be among the frontrunners.
The report also claims that Joaquin Phoenix is still in the mix, despite early negotiations having apparently broken down. It is thought he had previously come close to accepting the role, only for the finer points of his deal to prove unsatisfactory…
Meanwhile, another potential contender for Doctor Strange could be about to throw his lot in with another superhero franchise, with Fox reportedly keen to sign Tom Hardy as the titular villain in X-Men: Apocalypse .
Directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange will open in the US on 8 July 2016, with a UK date to be confirmed.
