Yes, despite the first film being terrible and despite the second one not hitting cinemas until March of next year, Warner Brothers has set the wheels in motion for a third Clash Of The Titans film by ordering a first draft.
Screenwriters Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson have been approached by the studio to knock together a new script, suggesting that Warner are more than happy with the work the pair have done on the second film.
Naturally, plot details are few and far between at this early stage, but according to The Hollywood Reporter , the film will continue the adventures of Sam Worthington’s Perseus, with a character from the second film likely to play a larger role in the third.
THR speculates that this character may well be Toby Kebbell’s Agenor, a bit-part player in the second film, but one with room for further development in round three. Wrath Of The Titans director Jonathan Liebesman is expected to be offered the chance to return, barring a box office disaster come March.
Wrath Of The Titans will follow Perseus’s journey into the underworld as he attempts to rescue Zeus (Liam Neeson) from his treacherous relatives Ares (Édgar Ramírez) and Hades (Ralph Fiennes). The film is released here on 30 March 2012.
