The Broken Lizard comedy troupe is back with a beer-flavoured comedy
Broken Lizard is best known for the chucklesome cop comedy Super Troopers and the less successful laugh-grabber Club Dread; they also re-wrote the Dukes Of Hazzard script with director and Lizard member Jay Chandrasekhar.
But now that Hazzard studio Warner Bros has adopted the crazed comic stylings of the Lizard troupe, we can expect more of their home-brewed silliness with Beerfest. And yeah, we went there with the home-brewed gag.
The new movie, which will be written by and star the group – Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske – features two brothers who hit the Oktoberfest in Germany and discover an ancient, secret beer-lympics (think Fight Club with pints instead of punches). After a stinging defeat at the hands of their mocking Euro-rivals, the siblings recruit a team of American star drinkers and aim to turn the tables. And probably stumble around in a drunken haze before puking on someone’s shoes. Several Total Film staffers have already offered their services as consultants… Expect the film to sway into cinemas late next year.
