Channing Tatum hints at standalone Gambit movie
"Gambit is not your typical hero"
Channing Tatum has been discussing his forthcoming appearance as Cajun X-Man, Gambit, hinting at when we might first see the character make his bow.
It had previously been understood that Gambit would appear in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse , but Tatum has raised the possibility of a solo movie to relaunch the character in style.
"We’ve talked about it being a standalone, first," says Tatum, "and actually trying to change the ‘hero, superhero movie.’ Because Gambit is not your typical hero."
"He’s a thief," he continues. "He walks on the grey. I’m hoping we can change it a little bit, and then ultimately feather into the other ones."
Ultimately, this is just speculation at present, with Tatum conceding, "obviously, there’s nothing written… there’s only conversations and dreams, really, right now." Still, it's an exciting prospect.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens in the UK on 19 May 2016.
