Channel 4 to air Agents Of SHIELD in the UK
Episodes will air in the Autumn “soon” after the US
Freeview owners, rejoice! Channel 4 has nabbed the UK rights to Joss Whedon’s Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD (blimey, that’s a mouthful).
The show, set in Marvel’s cinematic universe, is undoubtedly the biggest US telefantasy export of the year, and follows hot on the heels of Channel 4’s recent success with imports The Returned and Homeland .
An airdate has yet to be confirmed, though Channel 4 has said episodes will debut in the Autumn “soon” after the US. Given the recent trend with shows such as Game Of Thrones , The Walking Dead and American Horror Story – which all air within a week of their US broadcast – don’t expect to wait too long for Phil Coulson and co. to make the journey across the pond.
The pilot episode of Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD has been written by Joss Whedon and his Dollhouse collaborators Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. Joss also directs. Cobie Smulders reprises her Avengers role Maria Hill in the pilot, while previous Whedon collaborators J August Richards and Ron Glass will guest in the series.
