Add Robert Carlyle to the list of thesps who've recently broken cover over rumours that they're about to be handed the TARDIS key. And, unlike the likes of James Nesbitt and Rupert Penry-Jones, it looks as though he's not averse to following the phenomenally popular David Tennant as the Doctor.
But someone has to ask him first.
Scotland's Daily Record has just spoken to the Hamish Macbeth and Trainspotting star, and he tells them "This has followed me for two years. But no one has ever approached me about it and I never wanted to talk about it because you can't talk about another actor's part.
"I would treat it with respect and regard it properly, but I would have to be approached about it first."
