Captain America image gives a first look at Cosmic Cube
As clutched by Hugo Weaving
SFX Magazine have unveiled a brand new still from Captain America: The First Avenger , which gives the world a first proper look at the Cosmic Cube.
A MacGuffin that comes straight from the comics, the Cube first appeared in 1966’s Tales Of Suspense #79 , and is an object that can grant any wish.
It’s reappeared in various comics, including Captain Marvel, Daredevil and, of course, Captain America. A second Cube pitched up in 1979’s Super-Villain Team-Up #16 .
Last year’s Comic-Con attendees caught an early glimpse of this scene, which showed Hugo Weaving’s Red Skull discovering the Cube.
Collider spoke with Marvel boss Kevin Feige about the discovery, who revealed that the Cube may even also play a part in this year’s Thor :
“Odin’s vault which is where a number of the most dangerous relics of the nine realms are kept. There are a couple of key McGuffins kept in here which lead to the story of the movie and even the story of other movies.”
Captain America: The First Avenger opens 29 July.
