For many, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't get interesting until the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That's where it was revealed that Hydra had infiltrated the organisation from the inside, a twist that led to some big changes on the show (which has been consistently good ever since). According to executive producer Jed Whedon, Captain America: Civil War is set to change things yet again for Coulson and his motley crew of agents.
"It will definitely have a ripple effect," Whedon told The Hollywood Reporter. "It is one world, so if there is a giant event, it will definitely have a ripple effect on our world."
Unfortunately for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., right now the ripple effects are only going one way - from the movies to the TV shows. It was recently reported that the writers of Civil War were completely unaware of big events that took place on the show's last season, and in a world where everything is meant to be connected that's a problem.
I am intrigued to see what the ripple effect ultimately leads to on the show, which is in a very interesting place right now as Coulson and his team try to deal with the Inhumans. Thankfully, we don't have to wait too long to find out.
