Cannes 2011: Mia Wasikowska talks Stoker
Actress gives TF her thoughts on new thriller
In Cannes to promote new movie Restless , Total Film caught up with Mia Wasikowska to ask her about her upcoming project, Stoker .
“I’m really excited about that,” she enthused. “The story is about a young girl whose father dies and then she has this strange dynamic with her mum and uncle. It’s a thriller/drama kind of film but it’s really exciting.”
Contrary to popular rumours, the film apparently has nothing to do with vampire writer Bram Stoker and is a completely original story – scripted by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller.
Co-starring heavyweight Oscar winners Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman, Stoker also marks the English-language debut of Oldboy director Park Chan-wook – someone Wasikowska can’t wait to work with.
“I think he’s a fantastic director. He has such a strong vision and I think he’ll do something really interesting with the material. The script’s brilliant.”
Stoker is set to start shooting later this year for a 2012 release.
