Cannes 2009: People in films!
Don't tell those moviemakers to slow down...
Lots of films being watched right now in Cannes; thankfully there are also lots being made everywhere else, to maintain the equilibrium. Here’s a quick round-up.
Rather than sit at home polishing his Oscar, grafter Sean Penn is setting up his next role.
The Milk man’s in talks to headline This Must Be The Place as a rich rocker using his retirement to hunt his dad’s Nazi executioner. (So hard to find the time during work.) The film’ll mark Italian director Paolo Sorrentino’s (Il Divo) English-lingo debut.
Model-cum-zombie-slayer Milla Jovovich will star in Stone, playing the wife of a banged-up arsonist (Ed Norton) who gets her to get it on with his parole officer (Robert De Niro).
Camilla Belle and her extraordinary eyebrows have signed up for After The Wedding, a remake of a Danish family drama. That nice Tom Wilkinson’s in it too.
Meanwhile, there’s a pre-wedding movie in the works, as yet untitled but starring Forest Whitaker and America Ferrera. So they’re off to a good start.
Finally, in case anyone’s interested, Tom Hanks’ wife Rita Wilson is writing something called Terms Of Embarrassment, about a pair of old marrieds attending the same college as their son. Wasn’t Good Will Hunting the last word in college movies?
