Call of Duty XP 2011 The video tour

Just over a week ago, Activision opened the doors on its first-ever Call of Duty XP event in Los Angeles, bringing together a broad assortment of fans for a two-day festival devoted to all things Call of Duty. Taking up multiple sound stages and a huge swath of the adjoining outdoors, the expo featured tournaments, face-painting, sumo wrestling, a giant zipline, live performances from Dropkick Murphys and Kanye West, and a re-creation of the Burger Town restaurant from Modern Warfare 2 (which sold greasy burgers for around $12 each). Really, though, the event was about one thing: giving fans a chance to try out the multiplayer in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (which we previewed).

In case you weren’t able to make it to L.A. yourself, GR’s own Chris Antista was there to deliver a comprehensive overview of what went down at XP, including quick interviews with a couple of key industry celebrities (and actual celebrity Nick Swardson) and a recap of the event’s mysterious “Jeep Experience,” a no-rails theme ride manned by stuntmen. It’s a little long, but we promise it’s entertaining.

After graduating from college in 2000 with a BA in journalism, I worked for five years as a copy editor, page designer and videogame-review columnist at a couple of mid-sized newspapers you've never heard of. My column eventually got me a freelancing gig with GMR magazine, which folded a few months later. I was hired on full-time by GamesRadar in late 2005, and have since been paid actual money to write silly articles about lovable blobs.
