Bryan Singer confirms Caliban for X-Men: Apocalypse

Another behind-the-scenes image posted to Bryan Singer’s Instagram has confirmed the appearance of a fan-favorite mutant set to appear in X-Men: Apocalypse. This murky shot depicts the lair of Caliban - one of the underground mutants known as Morlocks. While it doesn’t feature the character in question, it’s still an intriguing glimpse into the film’s production. Check it out below:

Caliban made his first appearance in Uncanny X-Men #148. An albino mutant, who bares an uncanny (ahem) resemblance to an extra from The Walking Dead, he possesses the ability to track down other mutants. He’s a little like a living, breathing Cerebro. At one stage he’s enlisted by Apocalypse and later is transformed into one of his four horsemen - Death.

Fox’s other X-Men-related spinoff Deadpool also features Gina Carano as a Morlock known as Angel Dust. There could be a crossover at some point, especially as both films are currently shooting in the same vicinity.

Singer’s social media savvy has been a key source of info on the movie so far, with a stream of casting announcements, artwork and character tidbits hitting his various accounts over the last few months. Keep your eyes peeled for a first look at the as-yet unknown actor in line to play the sewer-dweller....

X-Men: Apocalypse arrives in the UK on May 19 and the US on May 27, 2016.
