Bruce Campbell to star in Evil Dead TV show
Sam Raimi to direct for Starz
The long-rumoured Evil Dead TV show is officially a go, with Starz confirming a ten-episode series to be directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell.
The new show will be entitled Ash vs. Evil Dead , and will take the form of ten 30-minute episodes, written by Raimi alongside his brother Ivan and co-writer Tom Spezialy, with producer Rob Tapert also on board.
According to Collider , the new show will pick up with Ash having spent “the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity, and the terrors of the Evil Dead”, before he is forced out of retirement by a plague of marauding Deadites.
“ Evil Dead has always been a blast,” says Raimi. “Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.”
Ash vs. Evil Dead has yet to receive a specific air date, but the new series is expected to make its bow at some point next year. Hail to the king, baby.
