Brothers Grimm: Snow White gets Tarsem Singh
Director of The Fall tackles pasty fairytale
Dark fairytale revival Brothers Grimm: Snow White has nabbed itself a director in the form of Tarsem Singh.
Just one of three Snow White films currently in production (Disney have Snow White And The Seven on the go, while Johnny Depp is circling Rupert Sanders’ Snow White And The Huntsman ), Singh’s version has been described as an edgy, adult version of the classic tale.
Clearly, studio Relativity are looking for something visually arresting with their production, and with Singh having stirred up some fittingly dark imagery in The Cell and The Fall , we imagine they’ll get it – in spades.
The director is coming off the back of Immortals , a sandy epic starring Mickey Rourke and Henry Cavill that looks set to dwarf this year's Clash Of The Titans in scale and ambition.
But who to play the tortured belle? Earlier this year, Natalie Portman seemed interested , though no casting has yet been confirmed. So long as Singh doesn’t give J-Lo a call, we’re happy.
