Bring out your dead - community maps coming to Dying Light on console

Dying Light fans on PC have been able to create and experience new maps since last spring, but console players will soon feel the love as well. Developer Techland has announced that select community maps will become available on Xbox One and PS4, and you can get a preview of what's coming this weekend.

"We said on many different occasions how much we enjoy playing maps created by our fans, but now the time has come to show it," said Michal Napora, community manager in a press release. "There’s so much variety and ingenuity in there, even more so since we added co-op and PvP support."

A stream of the dev team playing their favorite community maps will start at 10:00am Pacific on Saturday over on the Techland Twitch channel, if you'd like to get a sense of what's in store. The official list of maps that will be made available and when they'll come to consoles has yet to be revealed, but Techland has confirmed the ability to play community maps only requires the most up-to-date version of the base game. Dying Light Enhanced Edition, which bundles the upcoming The Following DLC with the base game and all other DLC, will be available starting February 9, so hopefully it won't be much longer until we get our hands on player-created content.

Usually this sort of stuff would remain firmly in the realm of PC players, but the lines between console and PC have perhaps never been quite so blurred as they are this generation. Just look at what Bethesda did when they announced that select select mods would eventually make their way to the console versions of Fallout 4. It's a brave new world, folks. And now it has zombies.
