Borderlands: The Handsome Collection bundles previous two games for PS4 and Xbox One
It may not be Borderlands 3, but Vault Hunters looking to shoot-and-loot on PS4 and Xbox One are getting the next best thing. 2K Games and Gearbox Software just announced Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, with bundles Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel for current-gen consoles, complete with all the DLC fixin's and some visual upgrades.
The Handsome Collection debuts on PS4 and Xbox One on March 24, 2015 in North America and March 27 everywhere else with a $60 price tag (pretty darn generous, provided you didn't already buy the last-gen versions). For the uninitiated, BL2 and the Pre-Sequel chronicle the escapades of Handsome Jack, the delusional smartass villain who's convinced himself that he's the good guy in this cheeky space epic.
For those who've already toured Pandora and Elpis, good news: you'll be able to transfer your saves files from Xbox 360 to Xbox One or PS3 to PS4. So why make the jump if you already own the last-gen versions? The Handsome Collection delivers 60fps at 1080p, and now supports four-player splitscreen at 30fps, meaning you can play through the campaigns with a full party from the couch. There's no sweeping visual overhaul, but the graphics will be in line with what you'd expect from a high-end PC.
If you're an absolute Borderlands fanatic with money to burn, you may also want to prepare your wallet for the $400 Borderlands: The Handsome Collection Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition, which bundles the bundle with a miniature remote-controlled Claptrap. Now you too can annoy/delight friends and co-workers with Claptrap's energetic banter, all while guiding around this talking, one-wheeled RC robot with a smartphone app (that comes complete with a video feed from his eye).
The Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition also comes with 12 lithographs of all the playable characters in BL2 and the Pre-Sequel (meaning there's at least one more Pre-Sequel DLC character in the pipeline coming before March 24). If you're willing to take the plunge on such a Claptrap-exalting expense, get your Pre-Order clicking finger ready: only 5,000 units of Claptrap-in-a-Box will be available worldwide.
