Borderlands 2 is official, coming 'fiscal year 2013'
Gearbox Software's sequel to feature all new people and places of Pandora
2K Games and Gearbox Software have officially booked their return trip to the loot-filled planet of Pandora, announcing the arrival of Borderlands 2 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC as early as next spring.
Scheduled for release in fiscal 2013 - that is,the year beginning April 1st, 2012 - the sequel to Gearbox's 2009 cel-shaded shooter-RPG will star a new cast of characters and enemies, fresh gear, new skills, improved AI, a tweaked mission system, and previously unplundered parts of Pandora. Once again, players will be able to form teams of four and, as 2K Games describes, %26ldquo;Reveal secrets, and escalate mysteries of the Borderlands universe as they adventure across the unexplored new areas of Pandora.%26rdquo;
The first promo pics for Gearbox's follow-up can be found on the newly launchedwebsite, and more details are set to arrive with the next issue ofGame Informer, which features Borderland 2 as its September cover story. The game will also be shown off later this month in itsmost current form atGamescom 2011in Cologne, Germany, from August 17th to 21st; and again atPAX Primein Seattle, Washington, from August 26th to 28th.
