The Blob returns for X-Men: Apocalypse
Bryan Singer is hard at work crafting the closing chapter of the mutant trilogy that began with First Class. For X-Men: Apocalypse the vast assembly of characters continues to grow in size with fan favorite The Blob now apparently added to its expansive roster. The tubby mutant, AKA Fred J. Dukes, previously appeared onscreen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, as played by Kevin Durant.
Benjamin Malartre Bureau, an Instagram user, posted the info along with an image celebrating his four-day visit to the film's Montreal set:

He goes on to comment that the character is played by an unnamed 540-pound local, presumably nixing the idea of a CGI-rendered version as was the case in the Wolvie spinoff. The Origins version of The Blob also dropped most of his comic book abilities, instead portraying him simply as a glutton. What Singer has in store for him remains to be seen - and it may be just as a cameo.
Co-starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Rose Byrne, X-Men: Apocalypse opens on May 27, 2016.
