In a recent interview with Forbes, BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk confirmed that their company is interested in continuing the Mass Effect franchise beyond Mass Effect 3.This meshes with the careful choice of wording we noticed during the E3 demo for Mass Effect 3 - instead of saying that Mass Effect 3 was the last title in the franchise, our demoer was very careful to say thatit was "the last chapter for Commander Shepard." While we took that hopefully as a hint of a possible continuation, Muzyka and Zeschuk now confirm that the Mass Effect universe is too cool for BioWare to close the book on. We have to agree wholeheartedly.

When asked about BioWare's plans for continuing the franchise, Zeschuk responded, "Certainly the setting has really resonated with people, the type of aliens in the world, the type of people that inhabit space. Obviously we focus first and foremost on nailing it on this game, and then, you know, the possibilities in the future are very, very broad."
Muzyka added, "...we do have a desire to continue the Mass Effect franchise, and we’re working on the details, figuring out what the fans want, figuring out the right way."
