Bewitched Remake Being Developed For TV

Are witches the next big thing on TV?
Variety reports that CBS has hired Marc Lawrence ( Did You Hear About the Morgans? , Miss Congeniality ) to draft a pilot based on the concept of a suburban witch trying to lead a normal life.
The original series ran for eight seasons beginning in 1964, starring Elizabeth Montgomery as the witch, Samantha, who wrinkled her nose when performing magic. She was married to long-suffering Darrin, whose name became a by-word for unexplained actor changes when Dick Sargent took over from Dick York midway during the show’s run.
There was also a spin-off series, Tabitha , about Samantha’s daughter (also a witch) and a bizarre post-modern film remake in 2005, in which Nicole Kidman played an actual witch who is cast on a remake of the original series. It was a box office disaster.
However, that doesn’t seem to have put off Lucy Fisher and Douglas Wick, the film’s producers, who will return to executive produce the new project through Sony Pictures Television.
