Ben Affleck has already written a script for a solo Batman movie

Despite the (admittedly funny) 'Sad Affleck' meme which is currently making the internet rounds in the wake of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's negative critical reception, most reviewers agree that the actor's performance is one of the best things about the movie. There had been plenty of talk of a solo Batman movie even before the movie was released, and now it's been revealed that Affleck has already written a script.

The news comes courtesy of William Morris Endeavor co-CEO Patrick Whitesell, who told The Hollywood Reporter that Affleck is "contracted to do at least Justice League One and Two, so at least three times wearing the cape. There’s a script that he’s written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that’s out there as an option."

Should this film be green-lit, it would be the first Batman movie written by the actor playing Batman. Along with the fact that Affleck's Batman is already 20 years into his crimefighting career by the time we catch up with him in Batman v Superman, that could give the solo movie a unique perspective.

As for what the movie is about, a recent rumour stated that Will Smith's Deadshot could play a big part in the film, and there is always talk of adapting the popular Under the Red Hood comic series. I'm more intrigued to see if they decide to go the Joker route once again, or whether Affleck's Batman is pitted against a rogue we have yet to see on the big screen. Hopefully, we'll get some more info - along with a green-light - sooner rather than later.

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne, and Amy Adams, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is playing in cinemas now.
