At a loose end this Easter? Why not hop on Eurostar and head to Belgium for the 25th Brussels International Festival of Fantastic Film. Running from 5-17 April, the 13-day bash will boast premieres, star guests, everything else you might expect from a celebration of all things fantastical and filmy, and probably a bit more besides.
The festival opens with the European premiere of Danny Boyle’s Sunshine , and over the following fortnight, it’ll give world debuts to Troma’s Poultrygeist , Kei Fujiwara’s ID and Uwe Boll’s In the Name of the King . Twelve films (including Russian fantasy sequel Day Watch and ovine NZ horror Black Sheep ) will feature in the International Competition, with the winners selected by a jury headed by Dawn of the Dead writer/ Slither director James Gunn.
On the more leftfield side of things, there’s the annual body painting contest, the "Ball of the Vampires" closing ceremony and the Auditorium Race, in which two inflatable dinghies crowd surf through a packed cinema , one carrying the festival director, the other an actor or director.
Frankly it sounds like a blast. Find out more at the official site .
