Finally Telltale has turned on the Bat symbol and shone some light on its new upcoming five-part Batman series. Previously all we knew was that the game would let us explore the "life and mind of Bruce Wayne" but at a SXSW panel last week, we got a little more information about the Dark Knight's adventures in choice based gameplay. While it certainly hasn't let us down so far, the engine that Telltale's games run on is being upgraded for the Bat's outing. There will be new features debuting for the first time and apparently a significant step up from past games on a technical and creative level.
Interestingly, we'll be able to choose whether to play as Bruce Wayne or Batman in certain scenes but, as first promised, Telltale is pushing for more Bruce than his caped alter-ego. Other choices include deciding between violence or mercy - swear to me, sorry I don't know what came over me - and being able to shape friendships and even Gotham itself.
Other tasty Bat titbits include the fact that Telltale is going for a comic style not unlike The Wolf Among Us, it's aiming for an M rating, and Telltale's business model is looking to be more of a movie studio than a game company in future. There's also no hint yet as to who the villains are going to be but an upgraded engine and The Wolf Among Us comic style? Count me very much in for its summer release.
