DC's full March 2024 solicitations have arrived, with the venerable publisher offering up a month of superheroic delights starring Superman, Wonder Woman, and especially Batman, who continues to dominate DC's line through sheer number of titles and spin-offs.
There's great news about that though, as many of those myriad Batman comics are among the most anticipated of the month, with Batman #145 leading the charge. In the wake of the upcoming 'Joker: Year One' story, Batman will continue his rivalry with his Zur-En-Arrh counterpart, who now knows a "dark secret" that's a "game-changer for the DC Universe."
Then there's Batman: Dark Age #1, a new comic from Mark Russell and Mike and Laura Allred which acts as a follow-up to their Superman: Space Age limited series, which also gets a collected edition in March.
Batman/Superman: World's Finest #25 takes things in a slightly different direction, flashing back to the first meeting of Lex Luthor and the Joker as Batman and Superman take a whirlwind tour of the DC Universe at large.
We're not quite done with Batman yet, as March's Wonder Woman #7 will send Wonder Woman and Superman into space to find a suitably exciting birthday gift for Batman.
And finally, in a story that's only tangentially Batman related, the new Suicide Squad: Dream Team limited series will put Amanda Waller's crosshairs on precognitive superhero Dreamer, whose powers may give Waller the edge she needs as the story sets up the next big DC event.
But that's just scratching the surface of another packed month of releases. Upcoming DC March 2024: Spotlight
March is an interesting month for DC, as it falls between most of the publisher's major events. And as such, several titles are already going to be hinting at the next big DC event story, with Suicide Squad: Dream Team directly laying the groundwork for what comes next.
There's also a remarkable amount of Batman and Batman related spin-offs in DC's March 2024 solicitations, including a burgeoning wing of titles starring some of his most famous enemies, such as Penguin, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn, which has opened up more and more of Gotham City. Is it too much Batman? Time will tell, but for now, I'm enjoying the ride.
Finally, I'm definitely missing the mainstream Justice League at this point, so stories like the one coming up in Wonder Woman #7, in which Diana and Superman go on the hunt for the perfect birthday present for Batman are a bit of balm for my weary soul, so I'm very much looking forward to a lighthearted team-up.
