BAFTA Television Award Nominations Announced
The Fades, Misfits and Terry Pratchett all up for gongs
The nominations for the British Academy Television Awards have been announced, and there are a handful of sci-fi and fantasy shows in the running for a big brass face. Former winner Misfits is up for best Drama Series, alongside The Fades (which has been unceremoniously cancelled and won’t be returning for a second series, if you hadn’t heard); while Misfits and Psychoville have both been nominated in the New Media category recognising innovation in a multi-platform TV experience.
Frankenstein’s Wedding: Live In Leeds is in the running in the Sport & Live Event category, while Terry Pratchett is up for an award for his (non-SF) documentary Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die and Joseph Gilgun gets the nod for Leading Actor. Not for his work in Misfits , but we guess he did a pretty decent job in This Is England ’88 too. The winners will be announced on Sunday 27 May at the Royal Festival Hall. The full (excruciatingly long) list of nominees can be found, in full, behind the link below, or check out the abbreviated SF-slanted list at the bottom of the page.
