You don't go toe-to-toe with Thanos, AKA the Mad Titan, and expect everyone to make it out unscathed. Whether they bite the big one or just decide to hang up the cape, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has confirmed that Avengers: Infinity War will be the final chapter for some MCU regulars.
Speaking to entertainment site JoBlo, Feige gave a simple (but resounding) "yes" when asked if Infinity War would be the last film for "certain beloved characters." Now obviously that's not much of a hint as to who won't be making it past the next Avengers movie, but you can't blame Feige for being tight-lipped.
When asked if there were plans for more movies featuring Chris Evans as Captain America and/or Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man beyond Infinity War and the (still untitled) Avengers 4, Feige was mum. "We have another two years of hard work to even finish these movies, and they [the actors] have a lot of hard work to do, so that's all we're thinking about, is completing those and delivering on the promise of those. Where it goes beyond that, we'll see."
We argued earlier this year that Marvel needs to kill off / retire some heroes by the end of Infinity War, so Feige's confirmation is fine by us. How many do you think will make it by the time the scene with 30+ characters happens?
