Nowadays it's easy to pick up a PS5 console or bundle in Australia, whether you're after the standalone disc or digital version, but getting them cheaper than RRP can sometimes be a challenge. During 2024 we've seen the standalone PS5 go for as little as AU$649, though on most normal days you can expect to save around AU$40 if you shop around. With the PS5 Pro just around the corner, there's every possibility the PS5 Slim will be subject to even steeper discounts in the near future.

The RRP for the PS5 in Australia is AU$799.95 for the disc model, and AU$679.95 for the digital model. The PS5 Slim has launched alongside its new digital (and more expensive) iteration, with older models now mostly supplanted at the big reputable outlets. The design on these is slightly smaller, shedding 30% of the form factor from the vanilla model.

As for the PS5 Pro, that launched on November 7 and will set you back a rather eye-watering AU$1,199.95. The stock issues that blighted the PS5's launch hasn't occurred with this mid-gen refresh, presumably because it's prohibitively expensive. Read our PS5 Pro review for a closer look, and to see whether it's right for you or not.

By the way, like the digital PS5, the PS5 Pro won't come with a disc drive, so you'll need to buy the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 to tack onto the side.

If you want a console right now: all relevant retailers are listed below, as well as the respective bundles available.

This big Aussie retailer receives stock quite often, but it generally only lasts for a minute or so. That means you'll have to be quick off the mark. Sometimes Big W orders are delivery only affairs.

Aussie independent games retailer The Gamesmen gets PS5 stock, so it's another outlet you should keep an eye on: If we get news on stock drops we'll add them to the top of this page.

EB Games is another good option if you'd prefer to buy your console at a bricks and mortar store, though their online offerings tend not to see the (admittedly small) discounts seen on dedicated online shopfronts.
