Amazon Prime Day in Australia is going big in 2024: it's running an entire six days, starting from July 16 and ending July 21. That means it's time to prep for some of the year's biggest PS5, Xbox, PC, and Switch offers so far - and we're getting you ready right here.
While the PS5 Slim is a little newer to the market, it's already seen some particularly strong discounts in Australia, and the bigger exclusives that have hit the system are all looking a little old to be at full price. The Nintendo Switch OLED is also looking ready for some boosted deals, and first-party games are falling in price a little faster these days so prepare for some excellent savings as well.
Of course, we're also looking forward to plenty of discounts across Microsoft's Xbox and PC ecosystems as well - and potentially some of the first major VR savings on the Quest 3 if we're lucky. While we're still a little under a month away from Prime Day gaming deals proper, we're getting you prepped for this year's discounts.

PS5
The PS5 Slim has already seen some fantastic bundles in the first months of 2024, with the recent Days of Play sale bringing the standalone console down from AU$799.95 to AU$649 on Amazon. Whether that price will be bettered or not is obviously yet to be seen, but considering it's part of Sony's own sales event, we'd hazard a guess that Prime Day won't improve on that price.
No, it's games you should be on the lookout for, and which we expect to see big discounts on. As we've seen in previous years, the biggest discounts are going to be reserved for those long-standing entries in the catalog, but we're excited to see some serious cash off the likes of Horizon: Forbidden West, God of War: Ragnarok, Elden Ring, The Callisto Protocol, The Last of Us Part 1, and Dying Light 2. Older releases tend to do quite well in Prime Day gaming deals after all.
However, if you're after something a little newer, it's well worth keeping a close eye on Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Resident Evil 4, Hogwarts Legacy, Dead Island 2, and Atomic Heart. We've already seen heavy discounts on these games in the first months of the year and there's likely more to come.
Accessories like controllers and SSDs are always a Prime Day favorite and we often see the official DualSense on sale during larger holiday events. We'll be keeping an eye out on these, so check back.
Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch is usually available below RRP in Australia, whether you're looking for the vanilla model or the fancier OLED. As a result, we're hoping to see more substantial discounts during Prime Day. For reference, the vanilla model usually goes for around AU$429 on Amazon, while the OLED can normally be had for around AU$499.
Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals are a lot more reliable when it comes to games. While we generally don't see the kinds of discounts we would expect from Black Friday here, we're still expecting to see some discounts on the likes of Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart, and Super Mario Odyssey. Newer games walk a finer line, but with more and more titles like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Wonder slowly shedding their price tags we could be in for a treat in the summer.
There's also Nintendo Switch accessories like Ring Fit Adventure, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, and other gadgets and gizmos to consider. The former options regularly come in at around AU$99 during these larger sales events, which is a price we would be aiming for ourselves.
Xbox
We haven't seen too many Xbox Series X deals on the shelves in the last few months. Prime Day gaming deals might not be as kind to the flagship console as it will the cheaper S model, though. If we're lucky, we might be able to nab a Series X for around the AU$700 mark, but its stock isn't as readily available on Amazon compared to Sony's flagship console.
No, we reckon games and accessories will be the highlight for Xbox users, and there's no shortage of kit. Official controllers are going to be the most interesting sellers here; the cheaper Xbox Wireless Controller, mid-range Xbox Elite Series 2 Core Controller, and premium Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller will likely be the stars of this year's show.
PC
The world of the best gaming laptops is a little stagnant this year. Minor upgrades to Intel's 14th generation processors and no new GPUs mean last year's models are generally better value for money overall. Newer releases are upgrading their display tech, though - so if you're after an OLED panel make sure you're browsing 2024's roster.
We're anticipating some of the most tempting offers to come from accessories, though. If you're after a new set of keys, the Asus ROG Azoth is our top contender. It's the best gaming keyboard we've tested so far, and it's regularly spotted at under AU$300 these days. If you're after something a little cheaper, the HyperX Alloy Elite 2 will hopefully get a nice discount.
Those after a new rodent will likely find plenty of the best gaming mouse models on the shelves in this year's Prime Day gaming deals. We'll be keeping a close eye on the Razer Viper V2 Pro as it's our favorite pointer available, and it's just starting to dip down to around AU$170 (from its RRP of AU$259). The Razer Basilisk V3 is also a fantastic all-rounder, which we expect to see at around AU$50.
There's one headset we watch out for every year, and that's the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. It's the best gaming headset on the market right now, and recent months have been kind to that hefty AU$735 RRP. Indeed, it's currently going on Amazon for AU$499.
