Previous years have offered up console bundles, heavy game discounts, and record-low prices on some of the latest and greatest accessories. We're hoping for more of the same this summer, especially with the looming presence of the Switch 2 on the horizon.

Not only that, but we're constantly testing new Switch games and accessories to work out which ones really are worth your cash - then watching their prices year-round. What to expect from Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals 2024 in Australia
Nintendo Switch deals are starting to hit the shelves more and more in the last 12 months, though 2024 itself has seen few dramatic discounts. With last year's Black Friday offering up some of the best bundles and even straight discounts we've seen yet, we're optimistic for this trend to continue over Prime Day.
In fact, the only console we have some questions about is the Nintendo Switch Lite. With waning stock, this cheaper handheld-only model is looking is a little thin on the ground already. The other question is whether it's even worth investing in this model when the vanilla and OLED models are so frequently inexpensive.
Nintendo Switch OLED
If you're after the latest and greatest console, it's worth noting that we've already seen as much as AU$60 off the Nintendo Switch OLED over the last couple of years. Those offers almost invariably come via Amazon, though eBay is also worth keeping an eye on. Interestingly, it's often best to buy the OLED model from Amazon Japan (via the Amazon AU store, of course) as it's very frequently under AU$40, resulting in a saving of over AU$100.
Nintendo Switch
The standard edition Nintendo Switch console dropped down to just AU$399 during Black Friday last year, but interestingly, it hasn't dropped significantly during 2024. The OLED model, on the other hand, is more often subject to steep discounts.
That said, the Nintendo Switch Sports set bundle is well worth keeping an eye on: it went for AU$399 last year as well, which is what you'll get the standalone console for on a good day. That bundle is currently low on stock, but Prime Day may see a replenishment. Whatever the case, we'd advise keeping closer eye on the OLED model, as you might end up getting that for the same price as the older, less ritzy model.
Games
Release dates matter where Switch game deals are concerned, as these titles hold their value particularly well. In fact, we still rarely ever see discounts of more than AU$20 on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and that was a launch title back in 2017. First up we have new titles released within the last six months - these are the least likely to see significant discounts. Think Princess Peach Showtime and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. The latter is going to be tough to find on sale, but its status as a port could help it out. Still, we wouldn't expect to see much more than AU$20 off here as well.
Then we have relatively new games that could drop to new record-low prices now that they've spent more time on the shelves. Titles like Super Mario Wonder, Super Mario RPG, Mario vs Donkey Kong, and WarioWare Move It have all enjoyed their own price cuts in previous sales. If this year's offers are particularly competitive, we could see up to AU$30 off these options.
That brings prices down from AU$79.95 to somewhere around the $59 mark - and that's where you'll likely find slightly older but bigger first party releases. Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Splatoon 3, Super Mario 3D World, Mario Odyssey, and Animal Crossing New Horizons all inhabit this space.

Amazon itself likes to keep the exact dates a secret each year, only releasing details a couple of weeks ahead of the event. Amazon keeps its best deals back for its Prime members during its sales, so you will need a membership to shop the best Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals this winter. However, there are a few ways to get around this.
First up, we see plenty of other retailers looking to steal Amazon's thunder during this period, offering their own sales (though admittedly, rarely matching the lowest prices, given Amazon's behemoth-like market dominance).
For an easier life, though, we'd recommend looking into Amazon Prime free trials closer to the time. Amazon regularly offers free trials of its service around its annual sales to drum up interest.
