Assassin's Creed Valhalla release date confirmed: Here's when you can play

The Assassin's Creed Valhalla release date has been confirmed, and now we know when we can start our invasion of England as the Viking leader Eivor.

The Assassin's Creed Valhalla release date is November 17; that's when you'll be able to start playing it on current generation systems at the very least, the trailer notes that it's "coming soon" to next-gen consoles, so the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions won't necessarily arrive at the same time. That makes sense, since neither console has an official release date yet.

Before it showed off the Assassin's Creed Valhalla release date, Ubisoft gave us our first extended look at actual gameplay (not just in-engine cinematics). The trailer above takes you through several new aspects of Valhalla as well as some elements returning from Assassin's Creeds of old.

Once you and your clan start to get settled in England, you'll be able to set out to find Anglo-Saxon settlements to raid for supplies. You'll scout locations from your longboat, then blow your horn to signal your clan to join you in attacking the location. You won't need to do any of it alone: your allies will help you fight through defenders, bash down doors, and even lug back loot that's too heavy for one person to carry. Even bigger cinematic moments will come in the form of Assaults, taking your clan to attack a fortified location with the help of battering rams and other special tactics.

On the assassin side, Eivor will once again be able to use social stealth: while they're wanted by Anglo Saxon authorities, Eivor can put their hood up and blend into crowds to avoid notice in settlements, or casually sit down to a meal to keep yourself beneath the notice of guards.
