Ant-Man will use some of Edgar Wrights visuals

Despite leaving the project earlier this year, Edgar Wright had put a lot of time and effort into prepping the story for Marvel’s Ant-Man adaptation, so it’s heartening to hear that some of his visuals will still be incorporated into the finished film.

Kevin Feige has been speaking about what we can expect from Marvel’s next big project, and has confirmed that new director Peyton Reed will be preserving some of Wright’s ideas in his version of the film.

“It wasn’t the whole movie,” says Feige of Wright’s storyboards, “and there are new elements in the movie obviously, now, that [ Wright ] was not involved in. But there are some segments [ of Wright’s movie ] that are awesome and will be brought to life in some incarnation.”

“Peyton certainly has all that material and is a talented enough and a secure enough guy to notice if something is really cool and go, ‘No reason to change that, that’s great.’ Or if he’s got his own spin on something to go and adapt it from there.”

Heartening stuff then, particularly given that Wright spent the best part of a decade working on the film. It would be a shame to throw the baby entirely out with the bathwater…

Directed by Reed and co-starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly, Ant-Man will open in the UK on 17 July 2015.
