Anna Paquin's Rogue cut from X-Men: Days of Future Past
'The sequence became extraneous'
Fans of X-Men 's Rogue are in for a shock.
Bryan Singer has revealed that he has had to cut the character's appearance out of his forthcoming mega-mutant epic X-Men: Days of Future Past .
Singer stresses that Anna Paquin's performance had nothing to do with the omission, and the edit is merely down to juggling the numerous plot threads and cast members.
“Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous,” Singer told Entertainment Weekly.
“It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”
“She did a fantastic job,” says Singer. “She was awesome in the sequence. She’s a brilliant actress. I would work with her in a heartbeat.”
With so many characters already taking up screen time, it was inevitable that some would be lesser-served, although the decision to cut a recognisable star out of the finished product is still surprising.

Still, fans can look forward to hopefully seeing the sequence on the DVD release, and as Singer's still keen to sing Paquin's praises, there's every chance she could appear in the next X-Men movie, Apocalypse .
