Andy Serkis discusses his role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Andy Serkis has been discussing his role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, confirming that his character is the one delivering the voiceover in the recent trailer, and insisting that is the only role he is playing in the new film…
“That is the character,” Serkis says to EW, before confirming that his voice has not been distorted at all for the trailer. “There’s no digital manipulation. That’s just me.”
“No that’s not true at all,” replied Serkis when presented with the rumour that he would be playing more than one part in the new film. “I can say I only play one character.”
“I have to be very careful about how I answer these questions,” continues Serkis. “The character… he’s been through some stuff.”
Serkis refused to confirm or deny whether his character will be rendered using his beloved motion-capture technology, teasing that, “These things will all come out in the fullness of time, I promise.”
Directed by J.J. Abrams and co-starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Adam Driver, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will open in the UK and US on 18 December 2015.
