Anarchy Reigns release date confirmed, disappointing
Sega strategically moves to 2013
A few weeks back, Platinum Games offered its fans a reassuring note that Anarchy Reigns wasalready finished, they were just waiting for their publisher, Sega, to make a decision about when to release the title.
Well now they have, and Platinum Games' fans aren't going to like it. In a tweet to a hungry fan today, Sega said that they have reconsidered any launch this Summer. In fact, they've reconsidered any launch in 2012.
"The release of Anarchy Reigns has been re-evaluated. We now expect to launch in Europe and America in Q1 of 2013," the official Sega twitter account wrote today.
We were definitely a little hurt by the news that we wouldn't be getting a new Platinum Games title this Summer, but we understand Sega's point of view. They want to get this niche title as far away from any major releases as possible. The first quarter of the year is traditionally the time when less sure-fire games can find success. The Christmas rush is over, and bank accounts are being replenish after the Call of Duty spending spree.
We just wish they hadn't told us the game was finished. Now we've got to deal with 6-9 months of nightmares of Anarchy Reigns sitting idly on somebody's hard drive.
