We've now entered the second day of October's Amazon Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals, which means things are heating up. You only have until midnight tonight to claim these offers, though I expect we'll see more of those bundles in the coming weeks. We're seeing a fantastic spread of console deals on the shelves right now, with accessories offering some of their lowest prices of the years so far as well. The only thing lacking is those games.
Retailers just don't seem to be putting the same kind of emphasis on first party releases that we normally see during major sales events. July's Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals brought us plenty of savings on new and old releases, but things are moving a little slower today. Still, with the fall Prime Day essentially kickstarting a whole season of deals there's plenty more where that came from.
This is the third year Amazon has run a second Prime event in October. Dubbed 'Prime Big Deal Days' this is essentially the same kind of members-only sale as we see in the summer.
We've been tracking Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals for years. We know when a discount is rare and when to hold off for more savings. We know which Nintendo Switch bundles are worth grabbing and which ones aren't actually that valuable. The Switch makes up some of the most popular offers amongst Prime Day gaming deals as a whole, so you can be sure things will be competitive over the next few days. We're putting all that experience to work, bringing you all the biggest discounts from around the web right here.

FAQ
When will October Amazon Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals end?
This year's October Amazon Prime Day is running from October 8 to October 9, which means official discounts will come to an end at midnight on Thursday morning. If you happen to miss the sale, don't worry. We often see a few savings holding out through the week after.
Do you need a Prime membership for Amazon Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals?
Amazon keeps its best deals back for its Prime members during its larger sales, so you will need a membership to shop the best Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals this fall. However, there are a few ways to get around this.
First up, we see plenty of other retailers looking to steal Amazon's thunder during this period, offering their own sales and price matching the online giant at the same time. That means it's wise to keep an eye on Best Buy and Walmart in the US, and Currys, Very, and Argos in the UK - you could easily walk away with the same price as a Prime member.
For an easier life, though, we'd recommend looking into Amazon Prime free trials closer to the time. Amazon regularly offers free trials of its service around its annual sales to drum up interest.
Get a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime
You'll need a Prime membership to take advantage of this year's sale, but the good news is Amazon regularly offers free trials. Time it right and you can sail through the full event without paying for the subscription at all.
What to expect from Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals 2024
Nintendo Switch deals are starting to hit the shelves more and more in the last 12 months. With Black Friday offering up some of the best bundles and even straight discounts we've seen yet, we're optimistic for this trend to continue in October's Prime Day event. While this is a safer bet in the UK, where we regularly see bundles on the shelves and cheaper game prices in general, the US might see its best round of Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals yet.
In fact, the only console we have some questions about is the Nintendo Switch Lite. With waning stock, this cheaper handheld-only model is looking a little thin on the ground already. That said, discounts are still popping up in both the US and UK, so if supply does hold out, there will be plenty to choose from here as well.
Prime Day Nintendo Switch OLED deals
If you're after the latest and greatest console, it's worth noting that we've already seen as much as $30 / £40 off the Nintendo Switch OLED over the last couple of years. Those offers came from Walmart in the US and a range of retailers in the UK (though AO held out the longest at this price). Amazon itself hasn't offered too much cash off the device (aside from a fairly permanent £15 discount in the UK), but if other retailers take the leap on the day itself, we could see some price match wars occurring here.

That still feels quite optimistic - the truth is we're just not used to seeing such savings on a Nintendo console, or any price drops at all. We're tentatively hoping for a return to that $20 / £20 price cut, but if there are no discounts at all, we'll still likely see bundle offers rolling in.
Those bundles could include the latest releases - Super Mario Wonder, Princess Peach Showtime, and Mario vs Donkey Kong. However, some of the best value options could be on old favorites - we've seen bundles including Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, most recently in the US.
Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals
The standard edition Nintendo Switch console dropped down to just $259 for the first time in May a couple of years ago. While a similar discount wasn't spotted in last year's Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals, similar offers starting to edge their way onto the shelves over the holiday period could well return. That fills us with far more confidence that we're going to see some more straight price drops on this device during Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals.
When it comes to bundles, though, there's some very exciting news. Last year's holiday sales saw a massive number of bundles on the shelves, and they held onto their position. Normally, these offers run out of stock pretty quickly, but we're pretty confident we'll see similar discounts come the fall.
Not only that, but we regularly see price cuts in the UK. We've already seen retailers kicking things even further down the price chain across the pond, but never at Amazon. That means we're expecting a conservative £239.99 sales price come October, but it's well worth checking in with smaller sites like The Game Collection and Base for more discounts.
We could also see the return of the Mario Kart 8 bundle that sits pride of place during Black Friday, and there's far more wiggle room for more games to get involved here as well. We don't see too many bundles day to day in the US, so Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals could be your first port of call.
Prime Day Nintendo Switch Lite deals
The Nintendo Switch Lite has been left out of the limelight for some time now, facing stock shortages of its own and steering clear of too many bundle options. However, that changed this year when Walmart offered its Animal Crossing bundle for just $159 - that was a $40 discount on a package that already included a free copy of the game (worth $40-$50). It was easily the best value Nintendo Switch deal we've seen in a long time, and it could make its way back to the shelves to compete with Prime Day.
We see far more discounts on the Nintendo Switch Lite itself over in the UK, though. There you're likely to find the handheld available for between £170 and £190 on a day to day basis, so we're expecting sale prices to fall towards the low end of this range in October.
Prime Day Nintendo Switch game deals
Release dates matter where Switch game deals are concerned, as these titles hold their value particularly well. In fact, we rarely see discounts of more than $10 on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a launch title back in 2017. First, we have new titles released within the last six months - these are the least likely to see significant discounts. Think Princess Peach Showtime and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. The latter is going to be tough to find on sale (we've already seen around $10 off Peach during July Prime Day sales), but its status as a port could help it out. Still, we wouldn't expect to see much more than $10 off here as well.
Then we have relatively new games that could drop to new record-low prices now that they've spent more time on the shelves. Titles like Super Mario Wonder, Super Mario RPG, Mario vs Donkey Kong, and WarioWare Move It have all enjoyed their own price cuts in previous sales. If this year's offers are particularly competitive, we could see up to $20 off these options.
That brings prices down from $60 to somewhere around the $40 mark - and that's where you'll likely find slightly older but bigger first-party releases. Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Splatoon 3, Super Mario 3D World, Mario Odyssey, and Animal Crossing New Horizons all inhabit this space. However, its higher MSRP means that Tears of the Kingdom has been stuck at $50 for some time.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door | View at Amazon
MSRP: $59.99 / £49.99
Predicted price: $49.99 / £36.99
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom | View at Amazon

Predicted price: $55 / £44.99
Prime Day Nintendo Switch accessory deals
Official Nintendo Switch accessories seldom drop their price tags - you can still expect to pay around $60 for a Pro Controller and $79 for a set of Joy-Con. However, third-party accessories regularly take some serious discounts over Prime Day - and there are a few you need to have on your radar.
The first is the Hori Split Pad Pro, our top pick for the best Joy-Con alternative. The gamepads themselves hold a $49.99 / £44.99 MSRP, but you'll regularly find them on sale day to day for around $45 / £40. Last Black Friday we saw these gamepads drop to $39.99 in the US (their lowest price to date is $30, but that was just over the course of one day in August 2023). That's where we would expect them to fall come Prime Day.
Of course, if you want to keep rumble features, we'd recommend the Nitro Deck instead. This alternative has been on sale pretty consistently for the last month or so, dropping its $59.99 / £49.99 MSRP down to $49.99 / £44.99. We have, however, seen it drop as low as $44.99 / £39.99 in recent discounts so it's well worth watching for future sales.
We'd also recommend watching both the Genki Covert Dock and Genki ShadowCast. These are third party gadgets that open you up to big-screen play on a range of different devices while you're out and about. The former hasn't seen too many discounts so far, but could well drop for the first time over Prime Day. It's got a $59.99 MSRP in the US but that could well dip to $49.99 in October. That's your go-to if you're looking for a portable docking option for a TV. However, if you need to play on a slightly smaller screen (an iPad or laptop, for example), the Genki ShadowCast should be on your list.
Thankfully, we've seen more discounts in the last few months here. The $49.99 MSRP has given way to a $44.99 coupon sale price in recent weeks, which is where we'd expect things to be in July. If we're lucky, though, those numbers could trickle down to $39.99.
