Amazing Images From Pixar's Latest Short
Cars tie-in revisits McQueen and Mater
The first pics from the latest Pixar short – tied to Cars – have been put online.
The imagery comes from Tokyo Mater, which is the fourth standalone short (if you count Mater And The Ghost light from the Cars DVD), intended to keep us all exited about the eventual sequel.
This one will arrive in cinemas before Disney’s Bolt and, like that latest Disney production, has been created in CG.
Tall tale
As with all the other shorts featuring Lightning McQueen and Mater, Tokyo Mater is a tall tale spun by the genial tow truck that finds the pair drift racing in Tokyo.
It’s also notable as John Lasseter’s first directing job since he helmed Cars itself.
And the imagery shows that while Cars – widely considered a lesser Pixar effort – helped raise the bar for beautiful imagery in CG animation, the new shorts have driven straight through it.
Take a look at the pics in our gallery.
