Playing a porn star could be about the most controversial role an actress can take on…

“It was a tough shoot but that’s what I was looking for. I’ve played in several romantic movies but I’ve always been looking for darker roles, and the story of Linda Lovelace’s life is a very dark place to go.

“We couldn’t show half of what she went through, although our film is still a pretty harrowing experience. But it was still the most intense and most rewarding experience I’ve ever had on a film.”

Lovelace opens in the UK on 23 August 2013. For much more from Seyfried, pick up issue 209 of Total Film magazine, which is out now!
