I don't know how you prefer your spiders, but before we get too far into this, let's just get ready to consume a large grain of salt, okay? All set? Okay, here we go: a call sheet for Spider-Man: Homecoming has reportedly leaked, and it reveals some major guest stars, a third villain, and even a tie-in to Captain America: The First Avenger. Needless to say, SPOILERS AHEAD.
The call sheet was posted to Reddit, but originated from Twitter account Atlanta Filming, which belongs to a hobbyist photographer who snaps photos of movies while they film in - you guessed it - Atlanta. It's not a complete list of everyone in the movie (as you'll notice when you look down the list and notice there are numbers missing), but it does seem to confirm suspicions of a third villain. Shocker.
No, I'm not saying that the list is shocking, I'm saying the villain is The Shocker. Known for his padded yellow-and-maroon costume, The Shocker uses gauntlets to cause massive vibrations in the air and ground, which makes him able to deal serious damage to everything from bank walls to people's bones. He's sort of a third-rate goon in most Spider-Man stories, but I'll be honest: I legit love the guy. One of my favorite Spidey rogues.
The call sheet says that Shocker will be played by Bokeem Woodbine (seen in the headline picture above as Mike Milligan from Fargo), but we really have no idea how prominently he'll factor into the story. Given that he wasn't part of the key art revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, my guess is this will be a cameo or minor role, a la Paul Giamatti as The Rhino in Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Other interesting castings to take note of are comedians Hannibal Buress and Martin Starr as "Coach Wilson" and "Mr. Harrington," respectively. Spider-Man is known for being one of Marvel's funnier heroes, so it makes sense that the film would benefit from some experts on the humor front.
I'm also going to point out Angourie Rice as Betty Brandt, who was Peter Parker's first girlfriend. She eventually went on to marry Ned Leeds, a character who is also in the film - do I smell teen romance drama?
Lastly, we see on the list that Kenneth Choi has been cast as Principal Morita. That may not seem like anything special, unless you remember that Choi also played a man named Jim Morita in Captain America: The First Avenger. I highly doubt that Morita also got frozen like Cap and The Winter Soldier, so more than likely this is his descendant. Still, it's another thread in the web of the MCU, there to remind us that these characters all share the same universe.
