Abbie Cornish set for RoboCop remake
She’ll play Alex Murphy’s wife
RoboCop looks set to add another notable talent to its steadily growing cast list, with Abbie Cornish reportedly in talks to play the widow of the late Alex Murphy.
Cornish will play Mrs. Murphy, who is led to believe her husband is dead having been killed in the line of duty. What she doesn’t know however, is that he’s been brought back to life as the cyborg law-enforcer, RoboCop.
Cornish will join Joel Kinnaman as RoboCop himself, while Samuel L. Jackson was recently added to the cast as powerful media mogul, Pat Novak. Gary Oldman is also attached as the scientist who brings RoboCop into being.
With the primary cast beginning to come together, hopefully some plot details will soon follow. At present, all we know is that Murphy dies and is turned in to RoboCop, leaving us wondering what kind of threat he’ll be facing in the villain stakes.
Directed by Jose Padilha from a script by James Vanderbilt, RoboCop will open in UK cinemas on 9 August 2013.Hopefully we’ll get a Dredd -style teaser poster , sooner rather than later...
