Why you can trust 12DOVE
Haunted by visions of her dead brother, the young wife (Zellweger) of a Hassidic Jewish scholar feels trapped by her marriage and her religion. Accepting a job - and some illicit sex - from her jeweller brother-in-law (Eccleston), she begins a voyage of self-discovery that threatens to destroy her old life.
Yakin packs an otherwise run-of-the-mill soap with every `important' topic he can think of. Marital strife, religion, mysticism and Man's relationship with God all get looked at, but none are explored properly.
Ignoring Zellweger's use of the pout to show every human emotion, there are some competent turns. But it's an awful big dung-heap to wade through for those small gems.
