7 Movie Stars Who Should Be On Twitter

We love Twitter.

If anyone tries to tell us it’s rubbish, we insult them in 140 characters or less, then take a Twitpic of their broken faces, before sharing it with our followers.

We can’t believe that we’re heading for the third act of 2009 and there are still some celebrities that haven’t bothered signing up for a service that allows them to connect directly with their fans.

So we’re naming and shaming some stars that have yet to put their name to a single Tweet.

Brad Pitt

Why He Should Be Tweeting :

Brad could be spreading links to humanitarian websites, encouraging his fans to PayPal money to worthy charities, or simply Tweeting explicit denials of nanny gropes.

Come on Brad, the tabloids have the ‘Brad Twit’ headlines all ready to go...

Potential Tweet
:

Fincher just called. Fight Club 2: Fight Harder is a go. You heard it here first.

Closest Thing We’ve Got:

I understand when people become unreasonable at times, but for an organization? That's a clear abuse of power.

Scarlett Johansson

Why She Should Be Tweeting :

She’s Black Widow in Iron Man 2 . It’s her civic duty to join Jon Favreau in Tweeting as much information as possible about the flick to her loyal fans.

We want daily updates. And if she could sneak in the odd Deadpool / Green Lantern exclusive by going to visit her husband on his respective film sets, all the better.

Also, her Twitpics would be awesome.

Potential Tweet :

Here’s a first look at me in my Black Widow get-up. Is it me, or is it a little bit tight?

Closest Thing We’ve Got :

I LOVE MY FANS! YOU'RE THE BEST AND I MEAN IT! A HUGE THANK YOU FOR ALL THE COURAGING SUPPORTS! XOXO SJ

Vincent Gallo

Why He Should Be Tweeting :

Prince Vince is one of the best trash talkers in the movie game, making bitchy bloggers like Perez Hilton look like Alfred Pennyworth.

Can you imagine getting quotes like “I don't trust or love anyone. Because people are so creepy. Creepy creepy creeps. Creeping around. Creeping here and creeping there. Creeping everywhere. Crippity crappity creepies.” in daily 2 minute bursts?

Potential Tweet
:

I stopped directing in 2003 at the peak of my powers just to deny people my beautiful movies. And I did it out of spite.

Closet Thing We’ve Got :

How come @rainnwilson has more followers than me? I'm better at everything he does.

Next: Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves

Why He Should Be Tweeting :

Keanu Reeves has a reputation as being a bit of an airhead, possibly because - far from being the wooden actor some claim - he’s actually a genius at playing airheads.

He could also be some sort of Andy Kaufman style comedian, who plays a 'Not particulary interesting' character everytime he's interviewed.

Whatever, Twitter is his chance to get his true personality across to the people.

Potential Tweet :

@Bill: Excellent!

Closest Thing We’ve Got :

Keanu Reeves was involved in a car crash recently. The actor was behind the wheel when a photographer's car got scratched and the driver was…

Next: Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood

Why He Should Be Tweeting :

Clint’s films aren’t exactly aggressively marketed to the Twitter generation.

Middle-aged mums and dads tend to go and see Clint's flicks, and the closest thing those guys get to Twitter is Facebook.

We know that Eastwood's next flick Hereafter is hardly Iron Man 2 , but he should still be Tweeting updates on it; Twitter could technically bring his flicks to a whole new audience.

Potential Tweet:

Peter Morgan’s just turned in a new draft of Hereafter. The ‘Tony Blair is a ghost’ end twist hasn’t exactly made my day.

Bruce Campbell

Why He Should Be Tweeting:

Bruce Campbell is a genius.

And, just as we’ll watch any old crap he’s in, we’d gleefully read his Tweets, whether he’s discussing upcoming projects, or telling us what’s in his sandwich.

Potential Tweet
:

Okay, I’ve caved. I’ve signed on for Evil Dead 4 – we start shooting in December.

Closest Thing We’ve Got :

@htpo Sorry. No chainsaw for an arm...

Next: Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese

Why He Should Be Tweeting:

Marty's always got a project or two on the go. It seems like as soon as he's wrapped one, he goes into pre-production on another. Twitter would be the best way of keeping us all up to speed with what he's working on at any given time.

Also, we imagine he'd chuck the odd swear in to emphasise his points, which would be refreshing.

Potential Tweet:

I've asked Leonardo DiCaprio to play Sinatra. Big fucking surprise, right?
