7-Eleven becomes Kwik-E-Mart
Their floors are sticky-mart…
It’s one of the strangest and biggest (yet, surprisingly apparently cheapest) marketing ideas for a summer blockbuster to happen along for a while.
Because 12 7-Eleven stores across the United States have been turned into Kwik-E-Marts, better known as one of Homer’s favourite shops in The Simpsons, to promote the movie version of the beloved show.
The chosen stores have been converted to look like Kwik-E-Marts for the whole month, with new signage and frontages, including images of the Simpson family. They will also sell some Simpson-inspired products, including Squishees, the fictional counterpart to Slurpees.
"We thought if you really want to do something different, the idea of actually changing stores into Kwik-E-Marts was over the top but a natural," 7-Eleven advertising bod Bobbi Merkel blabbed to The Hollywood Reporter . "It shows they get the joke."
Yes, that’s what every store wants – to be associated with the world’s dodgiest convenience stores! Still, if you’re planning to travel to the States this month, check out a store in several locations, including New York, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Nevada, Seattle and Florida.
Thank you… come again.
