6 Must-See Film Events At Latitude 2014
Nicolas Cage, Beyond Clueless, Peter Strickland...
Joe
Nicolas Cage is back with one of his finest performances in Joe . Directed by David Gordon Green ( Pineapple Express ), Cage stars as an ex-con who strikes up an unlikely bond with 15-year-old Gary (Tye Sheridan). We loved it and you will, too.
Palo Alto
An exclusive screening of Palo Alto will take place at this year's Latitude, sponsored by Total Film. The directorial debut of Gia Coppola (the granddaughter of Francis Ford Coppola), it's an indie coming-of-ager starring Emma Roberts, and is based on a series of short stories by James Franco (who also appears). The film offers a gritty look at life for California teens that has drawn comparisons with Dazed & Confused.
Peter Strickland Q&A
We'll be hosting a Q&A session with one of our favourite directors, Peter Strickland. Best known for Berberian Sound Studio , his fantastic ode to European horror movies, he'll be chatting about his latest film, Duke Of Burgundy and answering your questions.
Beyond Clueless
This teen flick narrated by Fairuza Balk was a hit at the Sheffield Doc Fest, and you can catch it during a special screening at Latitude. Not only that, but Summer Camp will be performing the film's score live. What more could you ask for?
Pulp
Love Pulp? You won't want to miss out on Pulp: A Film About Life, Death, And Supemarkets. Screening at Latitude, the doc follows the band during their 2012 farewell tour and includes candid chats with Jarvis Cocker et al on everything from love, fame and mortality, plus awesome performance footage.
Brass Moustache
Film company Brass Moustache will be presenting the two finalists in its Secrets And Lies competition at Latitude, with industry experts joining a panel discussion about the films. Wearing your own brass moustache during the event is entirely at the audience's discretion.
