The Movie Friends: First director of the F.B.I. J. Edgar Hoover (Leonardo DiCaprio) and associate director and lifelong best friend Clyde Tolson (Armie Hammer).
Why They Need To Date: Clyde spirals out of control and loses his composure as soon as J. Edgar mentions he’s considering marrying a woman, before revealing he loves Hoover with a kiss.
How Long Would It Last? This relationship would’ve struggled in the cold light of day, mainly as Hoover’s own mother forbid him to be, as she put it, a ‘daffodil’. Behind closed doors, this is one for a lifetime.
Tremors (1990)
The Movie Friends: Val (Kevin Bacon), an easygoing handyman working in the small valley town of Perfection, and cute seismologist Rhonda (Finn Carter), in town to investigate the err, tremors.
Why They Need To Date: The goo-goo eyes these two make at each other when they think no-one is looking is more than enough of a reason, but Val’s gonna need scientific proof from a reliable source to help him become famous.
How Long Would It Last? For quite a few years, if not for life. Their similar hair colour will ease the stress of purchasing separate shampoos, which is a plus.
The Rules Of Attraction (2002)
The Movie Friends: Misogynistic narcissist Sean Bateman (James Van Der Beek) and Paul Denton (Ian Somerhalder), a sensitive chap who, like millions the world over is only attracted to complete douchebags.
Why They Need To Date: Sean’s romantic dalliances thus far seem to only prove he is utterly incapable of genuine human connection. Paul is eager to offer him a chance at that, and also, he quite likes Sean’s buns.
How Long Would It Last? We’d give them a couple of weeks before Sean enters a denial spiral and seeks help from his big bro, Pat. Cue murder spree.
The Faculty (1998)
The Movie Friends: Cinema’s only rebel with a Momma’s boy haircut Zeke (Josh Hartnett) and his English teacher, the prim Miss Elizabeth Burke (Famke Janssen).
Why They Need To Date: All of their public arguments, in particular Burke’s ego-shattering tirade unleashed upon the lad, mask a forbidden desire. After all, who hasn’t been hot for teacher?
How Long Would It Last? Keeping it on the quiet would be key, as Zeke is her student. With such a secret to keep, the sneaking around would keep that fire stoked for many years to come.

The Movie Friends: Foraging and hunting buddies Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Gale (Liam Hemsworth). Their friendship is borne from a desire to eat something on the regular that’s not grass jazzed up as a ‘wild cress jus’.
Why They Need To Date: To mainly irritate the folks behind The Hunger Games. Damn those fools, trying to tell ’Niss who she can and can’t love.
How Long Would It Last? As long as Gale can bear to wait for his woman while she pops off to murder a load of her contemporaries.
Jurassic Park (1993)
The Movie Friends: Paleobotanist Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) spends most of her traumatic experience at Jurassic Park with mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), who keeps his shirt open throughout.
Why They Need To Date: Sattler may be dating Alan Grant (Sam Neill), but it’s Ian Malcolm who proceeds to behave like a teenager around her, even using drops of water flicked suggestively onto her hand in order to flirt. Nice one, Malcolm.
How Long Would It Last? Grant would be cast aside and Malcolm would be ushered into his place, followed by a proposal and the pitter patter of tiny feet. That’ll be from their own genetically engineered dinos they’re rearing from stolen DNA.
The Breakfast Club (1984)
The Movie Friends: Affluent upper-crust tottie Claire Standish (Molly Ringwald), and manchild from the wrong side of the tracks John Bender (Judd Nelson).
Why They Need To Date: Spending an entire day in detention together and enjoying it? If that’s not enough, these two share a brief kiss at the day’s close, signalling that behind those veiled guises maybe there’s hope for star-crossed lovers.
How Long Would It Last? Until Monday, when they land back at school and realise that despite their epiphanies, peer pressure exists for a reason. It must be obeyed like a threatening elder with a cane.
Teen Wolf (1985)
The Movie Friends: Scott (Michael J. Fox), a 17-year old suffering with a hairy back, face, palms... alright, he’s a wolf; and his loveable best friend Boof (Susan Ursutti).
Why They Need To Date: Aside from Boof’s obvious attraction to him, Teenwolf is disastrous at choosing women, suffering from the old “She’s smokin’ hot so she MUST be nice somewhere under that icy exterior” syndrome.
How Long Would It Last? With the firm approval of Papa Wolf, and her lack of concern over birthing an offspring of hairy McFlys, til death do them part.
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower (2012)
The Movie Friends: Welcomed into the warm, fuzzy bosom of a group of friends, shy newcomer Charlie (Logan Lerman) meets his new bestie, Sam (Emma Watson). The free spirited lass charms Charlie by standing upright in the back of a truck while speeding down a tunnel listening to Bowie. Crazy.
Why They Need To Date: Sam’s helpful suggestion for an on top of the covers snog: “I want to make sure the first person you kiss loves you.” Phenomenal friend, or... ?
How Long Would It Last? Sam and Charlie will make it through the temptations of higher education and remain together. Aww.

The Movie Friends: Gina (Renee Zellweger), a promiscuous gal with good intentions hidden somewhere beneath her scanty clothing, and Lucas (Rory Cochrane), her fellow record store employee who enjoys petty larceny.
Why They Need To Date: Out of their circle of friends, it’s doubtful there’s anyone else who’d have either of them. Gina drops her drawers at the slight hint of a hook-up, and Lucas gambles with other people’s earnings.

Why They Need To Date: During a starry-skied evening on Maddy’s roof, she tells Legs “If I told you that I loved you, would you take it the wrong way?” She’s met with a suggestive smile as Legs responds with: “I’ll take it however you want me to.” Score!

The Movie Friends: Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith). This loveable ragtag duo have been friends since birth, and make their living selling pot outside the Quick Stop convenience store while quipping on ladies, love, ladies and err, ladies a bit more.
Why They Need To Date: Jay’s constant references referring to blowing Silent Bob suggest there’s a sexual undercurrent at play, gagging to be explored.
How Long Would It Last? Ten minutes until either of them spot a particularly attractive woman.
Big Trouble In Little China (1986)
The Movie Friends: Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) and his affection for responding to everything with a ham-fisted cliche doesn’t stop lawyer Gracie Law (Kim Cattrall) from garnering a soft spot for the gruff trucker.
Why They Need To Date: Their intense ordeal overcoming Lo Pan is more than enough of a reason these two bickering buddies need to unwind with a seriously large bottle of Lambrini. That affordable tension reliever.

Why They Need To Date: The question ought to be: why shouldn’t they? Cap humble-bumbles his way through their first conversation much to Peggy’s delight, she then swoons over his muscular physique, he gets googly-eyed over her red dress, he carries a photo of her in his pocketwatch... the list goes on.
The main reason is of course for the mere fact that Cap’s crash and 70 year deep freeze meant they were never able to. Sob!
How Long Would It Last? As long as they can be in the same place in time, this amorous pair would battle the forces of evil together until the bitter end.
