5. The Shining (1980)
The movie: Stanley Kubrick's haunted house chiller, starring Jack Nicholson on suitably loony form as Jack Torrance, a caretaker who drags his family up to an isolated Colorado hotel for the winter. There'll be mazes, corpses, bartender ghosts and uhh.. really weird room service.
Take a drink when: Room 237 is shown or mentioned. Tony is referenced. A title card is used. Jack's writing is shown or mentioned. Someone talks about the weather.

4. Withnail & I (1987)
The movie: The classic drinking movie. Without the cult that sprang up around Withnail's copious imbibing habits, this feature probably wouldn't exist. Watch as Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann drink everything in the world.

The movies: Peter Jackson's majestic adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien's supposedly unfilmable books. Hobbits, giants, wizards, and orcs populate this vast cinematic franchise - and most of them are quite fond of ale, actually.
Take a drink when: Someone drinks anything. A Hobbit talks about food. Frodo says "Oh, Sam". Gollum bleats about his "precious." Orloondo Bland does some eyebrow acting.
