The 5 best Overwatch clips of the week: Payback's a bitch (and so is Junkrat)

Character knowledge is critical for being a top-tier player in any shooter. In Overwatch, that means knowing the ins and outs of the hero you’ve chosen as your main. But it’s pretty useful to be alert to all the abilities your opponents will be working with too.

Yes, that sounds like a missive directly from Captain Obvious, but you’d be surprised how often people forget basic things like how the hero abilities work. At least their pain is your gain, because the results can be pretty hilarious.

1. Come and get me

These players think they’ve been gifted a kill by a casually emoting Junkrat. Too bad they forgot that Junkrat drops bombs when he dies. Who’s got the last laugh now?

2. A shark can’t stop moving or it dies

Ah, Genji. So close to a brilliant move. But charging a sniper with your Deflect skill and than standing still is…let’s say a poor strategic decision.

3. Blown away

Floating just off the edge of this Ilios map, Pharah sets a perfect trap. First she lures enemies away from the control point. Then her Concussive Blast gets a killer environmental triple kill from these careless opponents who foolishly ignored the knock-back ability.

4. Miss Mercy Mack, Mack, Mack…

Hero abilities don’t have to be all business, even in the new Uprising event. Here, the beams from Mercy’s Caduceus Staff turn into an impromptu jump rope for this Reinhardt and Tracer.

5. Step into my web

Sometimes, your hero’s best ability is just pulling the trigger at the right time and place. This Widowmaker shows how it’s done with a massive kill streak.

Check back every Monday on 12DOVE for more Overwatch mayhem and magic.
