23 Worst Movie Roommates
Making life a living hell
Tootsie (1982)
The Roommate: Jeff Slater
Annoying Habits: Though Jeff’s generally a tolerant old chap who supports his roomie’s decision to dress as a woman to get a job, he’s also a broke writer.
Which is the impetus behind Michael’s (Dustin Hoffman) decision to cross dress – Michael wants to find $8,000 to fund Jeff’s latest play.
If We Lived With Them: We’d give him Variety and a local newspaper’s classified section and tell him to get a proper job.
Rules Of Attraction (2002)
The Roommate: Lara Holleran
Annoying Habits: Lara does what we all do when we head to university – she lets her hair down and has a good time.
But Lara takes it a step too far, bedding the entire football team, snorting cocaine, and ending up under the covers with roomie Lauren’s (Sharynn Sossamon) latest squeeze Sean (James Van Der Beek).
If We Lived With Them: We’d call AA and let them deal with her.
The Goodbye Girl (1977)
The Roommate: Elliot
Annoying Habits: Being a forthright actor with a gift for dramatics (just check out his insane-moody telephone box phone call) and disappearing when he’s needed. On the upside, he’s good with the kiddies.
In response, roomie Paula (Marsha Mason) is cold, aloof, and seriously judgemental. They deserve each other.
If W e Lived With Them: We’d sublet to someone else. We’re not dealing with all that romantic strife. Honestly.
Burlesque (2011)
The Roommate: Ali
Annoying Habits: Generally being a diva and a nuisance. When a fresh-in-LA Ali crashes on a co-workers sofa, she’s not exactly grateful – more grotty.
Leaving the entire place in disarray, she even goes around with some idiot in a flash car when she should really be shacking up with the totty from the club. Idiot.
If We Lived With Them: We’d throw a diva fit of our own and get her to clean her act up. Failing that - hair straightener wars!
